Changing site (domain name)

Hello. Let’s say I have designed originally my site for www.domainA.com. What would be my steps to change it to www.domainX.net?

Re: Changing site (domain name)

Hello,
if you’ve used in your code and the content only the standard textpattern tags (e.g. <txp:site_url />, <txp:page_url />), then the only step is to change the domain name in the configuration of your site. Otherwise you have to change all occurrences of the old domain name in code and content.

And database connection information should be checked from config.php. Maybe as well path to files and such small things.

Re: Changing site (domain name)

it’s a fairly routine to move from one domain to another. many of us may develop on MAMP/LAMP as for example Domain.txp and then go live by moving allthe files to the live server under Domain.com . You need to update file paths, urls and the info in Config under textpattern. backup everything! And when you export your DB use a new name and update the paths and the domain name therein.
