Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

And let me just say that I’m always amazed at the ways people come up with to use this plugin. It’s as if Txp is the web app framework, and rss_suparchive is the CMS!

Matt – I’m not sure what the problem is. I use the tag the exact same way.

I assume you have a section called Journal (with the capital J) and you’re assigning a category1 to your articles?

Stuart – I’ll include those changes in the next release. Glad you’re running now.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

Question: Does rss_superarchive work alright with RC3 or not? I haven’t been able to get it to work. In particular: rss_superarchive_menu (I may have the name wrong here). I can get the menu to come up, but the URLs (links) don’t work (when running clean).

Just trying to figure out if this is user error (me) or some incompatibility issue with RC3 and this plugin.

Note: my default URL structure is “/section/id/title”. Does this negate using the date URL structure needed by this plugin? I need both types of URLs in a site I’m building.

The latest version of the plugin runs on RC3. Are you using sgb_url_handler by any chance? I’m using the menu on my site now which is using RC3 and /section/id/title URLs but it doesn’t seem to work in conjunction with the sgb plugin.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

I’ll take a look from home this p.m. I did have this plugin installed, but I think I deactivated it. I’ll let you know and give you a more thorough description of the problem (how the tag is used, etc.) if it is still an issue.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

Just a quick thought here aesop1 but I spotted in your first post that you have made an error which I made a couple of days ago when popping the tag into one of my templates. There is no “er” in rss_suparchive_menu. You might want to double check that.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

OK. I have sgb_url_handler running, which I know you just said causes problems with your plugin. And apparently it is causing problems as my /archive/ page will not load (nothing but a 404 every time). When I turn off sgb_url_handler, though, NONE of my sections work (articles do, but not sections).

Any ideas?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

wilshire, I have a suggestion:

I use rss_suparchive_menu twice in my weblog: to put put monthly and annual archives. Since the plugin includes a default id this breaks the validation of my pages. Perhaps it could be changed to a class or the user could have to possibilty to substitue it without hacking the code.

Would be great. It’s really an excellent plugin!

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

kennethlove666 – I have both sgb_url_handler and zem_rewrite running on my site. zem_rewrite takes care of the /section/ calls, as far as I can tell and the two plugins don’t get in each others way.

I don’t use zem’s tags, it’s just there and activated with the appropriate URL scheme in the list at the top of its code.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

kennethlove666 – I don’t have problems viewing section pages while using sgb_url_handler. The problem only comes up with I add year and month filters to my archive section URL. Are you running in a subdirectory? Don’t know if this would make a difference but maybe the plugin is confusing a subdirectory and a section name?

andreas – I’ve already changed that id to a class so you’ll see it in the next release.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

Okay, it was user error that caused my trouble. Note to rss_suparchive newbies: you can’t use <code><txp:article /> or <txp:article_custom /></code> tags to get results with rss_suparchive_menu because they aren’t date aware.

Also, thanks Stuart. I did make the error of misspelling the plugin name initially, but did manage to realize the error before I saw your post.

Plugin works great—thanks.
