Misused discussion "Is the development of Textpattern at the end?"

I don’t agree that the thread Is the development of Textpattern at the end?, commenced by me, is misused for other discussions and is therefore closed. The purpose of my thread was another and I beg you to respect it.

Perhaps your next thread can have new title.

What’s the problem with the title?

I think we’ve established that development isn’t at the end, and the previous topic had gone off-track. Therefore it was closed. Feel free to discuss further though if you wish.

I would recommend a more open ended question next time – the answer to “Is the development of Textpattern at the end?” is No. It doesn’t actually invite discussion.

Suggested Alternative Titles:

What can the community do to support the further development of Textpattern?

What are the strategic needs for Textpattern Development?

What is the biggest missing feature in Textpattern that you would like to see added?

I wouldn’t have closed the other thread but I fully support Destry’s choice to do so.

edit: I wouldn’t have closed the other thread but I fully support Phil’s choice to do so

I closed the last thread, not Destry.

Too many f-bombs from Destry and Gocom, yeah that can certainly derail a conversation.

GugUser, your original forum post was in September of 2014, I was not an active forum participant back then. I was drawn to your thread when Craft CMS was mentioned, so I gave my 2 cents.

For some reason, anybody can say what they want about the state of affairs except me. I hold a special censorship place among the moderators.

As for “Is the development of Textpattern at the end”, I would say no, as long as the code is Open Source, it will continue to be enhanced. The reason we’re all in here discussing Textpattern is that we haven’t found a replacement, if we had, we’d be gone. So it’s the TXP community that has kept it going for the most part, if this forum was dead, development would die off quickly.

But development is not the problem, it’s the presence, the look of Textpattern.com, the hard to use Resources site, the missing Themes site, and the Docs in transition.

So on top of getting 4.6 out the door, the 3 core devs also have to deal with the presence, tall duty, need help?

Actually I’m not discussing or asking if the development of Textpattern is the end or not. This was my question from more than a year ago, and I think it was at that time a legitimate question.

Now, according to some comments, it seems that my question was the reason to close the thread. Strange.

Re: Misused discussion "Is the development of Textpattern at the end?"

It feels at this point like “When did you stop beating your wife?”

Sorry, but I do not understand your argument, and the others above neither. Maybe you can read what happened before the other thread was closed. That has nothing to do with my person.

No, towndock wasn’t referring to you. It’s just an idiom that probably doesn’t translate well. Maybe this page helps.

For my own part: The words I passworded in the other topic weren’t really “about the state of affairs”, Bert. (At least not about Textpattern’s affairs :)

but Dick is in there.

OK, very educating, I know a new English four-letter word. Thanks, Pete & Bert.
