Chat room for the UK Textpattern user group meet in October?

A question for everyone who’s interested in the proceedings/outcome of this (informal) meet up: should we have some kind of chat channel for remote participants? I was wondering whether a chat room might be helpful, or perhaps a hindrance.
Is there any value to this kind of thing on this scale? We’ll be in a pub with free wifi, so won’t have the luxury of a meeting room, which will make audio not viable.
Remote people: what’s the hotness in chat rooms these days? What would work for you? Is this a good idea or misguided?

I wouldn’t be inclined to follow at distance, personally, but I will be looking forward to reading the resulting write-up at my leisure and laughing at the pictures. A couple choice video clips would be nice too.
