loading different templates with pagination

Hi have a design problem I have never run into before, wondering if anyone might lead me in the right direction.

I have a template for a home page that displays 7 articles, the first article (the lead article) is large and spans two columns, the following six are smaller are in the two columns side by side (2×2×2). Pagination Prev and Next are at the bottom. When I click next, it reloads the page with the next set of articles. What I would prefer, is to do one of the following:

A) load the next set of articles in the two columns without a larger lead article

OR

B) load the next set of articles under the set that is already being displayed.

Any thoughts?

Re: loading different templates with pagination

There is a native way of doing it but it will be easier to use soo_if_frontpage plugin
