Clean Page URLs

Apologies if this has been asked before, I searched failed to find anything useful.

Paging using etc_pagination plugin or even the built in paging will result in a url with something like /?pg=3 on the end.

Is it possible to make it do /page-3 instead?

How wouldd it work with a url that has something like ?s=articles&c=development&pg=2 on the end?

Is there a way to achieve this with tags or with a plugin? I am not sure why my query strings look like that, as I have clean URLs enabled and they work.

I want to do this as i think will improve SEO.

Thanks for any advice!
