What is this "You've been banned." message? Our apologies.

For the last 24 hours you might have seen a “You’ve been banned” message when you’ve tried to post something on the forums. Don’t worry, none of you were actually banned or specifically targeted.

Yesterday, one of our admins accidentally banned all of us from the forum by IP. This wasn’t intentional, but an accident that went unnoticed.

It happens to be that all verified users have the same IP, or put better, no IP at all. Once your account is verified, we stop collecting your IP addresses; we have no reason to. What this really means, is that the server sees all verified user’s coming from IP ’0.0.0.0’.

Now, one of the admins used the FluxBB’s automated banning tool without realizing that it actually bans by IP and email, while blacklisting the username. When you ‘ban an user’ in FluxBB it pre-fills an other form where you can input details for the ban (i.e. email, username, IPs). The pre-filled IP was that shared ’0.0.0.0’, and once the details were saved, we all were banned from the forum.

I want to apologize and for any inconvenience this has caused you.

Sincerely,
Jukka Svahn
