Re: New forum theme

I don’t have any memory of the old forum site but I like the clean design of the new one.

Give credits to my TXP upgrade problems before Christmas and now I enjoy coming to the Forum (almost every day) to pick up new ideas. [Well, I do have more help to ask for since you guys are so helpful and funny. You make my day.]

Re: New forum theme

Focus-ring animation / transition slow ? At least, that is how I perceive it here, I found it a bit distracting – first noticed on the iPad 2 / iOS 7, but on my iMac / 10.9.1 / Safari it is not much better.

I see it is set to .2s – I usually use .1s ~ .15s. Fwiw, the Apple / 10.9 animation is around .07s on input boxes.

Re: New forum theme

Isn’t the focus ring supposed to be distracting, it’s meant to draw focus after all?

Re: New forum theme

I certainly wouldn’t label a focus-ring distracting. In the case at hand it is the slowness of the transition that is a problem. The result is more like the animation terminates when I’m already way past the action of focussing the input field.

Re: New forum theme

FF 26: Anybody who has bookmarklets not working (none!) on the forum and only the forum, like me? Also tried without extensions, but no luck. Javascript is on. Bookmarklets do work in Safari + Forum.

Edited to add: Mac, BTW. + Typo.

Re: New forum theme

uli – do you see any error messages in the console – Cmd-shift-J ?

With the one bookmarklet I have installed in Fx I see

Content Security Policy: The page's settings blocked the loading of a resource: An attempt to execute inline scripts has been blocked

and the bookmarklet fails (Fx 25,26 + nightly reasonably uptodate)

Yup, same as yours.
That will mean: also no chance of running userscripts. I’ve thought of installing a userscript extension for un-ticking said “silent edit” moderator checkbox, which will then be useless, I assume.

Thanks for trying out.

Re: New forum theme

OK, thanks for confirming.
That means there is something in the forum’s js scripts that prevent user scripts (bookmarklets included) to run. I don’t use FX at all, except for testing and I’ve lost track of all the changes they’ve done in that space in recent years. And not much energy for diving into the scripts to try to find out. Maybe Jukka will know.

On an (un- ?) related note, every time I try to inspect this forum’s pages with the Safari Webinspector, the page “hangs” (spinning beach ball, nothing is responsive) – forcing me to close the tab. It is not really a hang in the OS sense of the word as Activity Monitor doesn’t report the process as not responding. It is the only site where I noticed this. OS X 10.9.1 fwiw.
