404 File Not Found

So we migrated our site recently from one remote host to another. Now we are getting 404 file not found when downloading files. Images and plugins work. (I’m not totally sure if it was the migration that broke it as i didn’t check tab for a month or so).

I get error message: Warning: cannot write to file directory /customers/7/8/0/[DOMAIN].com/httpd.www/files.
and a whole list of “Missing” notices.

I have tried changing chmod to 777…

I have never seen a uri like that but it came with the package (obviously without the DOMAIN part).
I tried renaming this to just: “../files”, that seems to read the directory, (Ok notices) but still cant download (yeah… weird).

I’m on textpattern 4.5.2

Has anyone experienced this before, if so how did you fix it?

Thanks,

Ed

Re: 404 File Not Found

Check in Admin > Advanced Preferences to make sure that the settings for the Files directory (and the Temp directory too!) are pointed to the correct place on your new host.

They don’t automatically change when you move a site from one host to another and will need to be changed to reflect the directory structure of the new host.

Re: 404 File Not Found

thanks for replying springworks. Can i ask you a question, does /customers/7/8/0/[DOMAIN].com/httpd.www/files. <<< that domain mean anything to you? ie is the whole customers/7/8 bit a textpattern thing or has textpattern created that from a server directory? I didn’t know if it was a weird php directory or not.

Re: 404 File Not Found

Resolved, deleted the contents of “Temporary directory path” under preferences and saved, that gave me the absolute directory & with a little adjustment it worked. Thanks for the pointer springworks.
