FTP permission settings

I have run into a very weird FTP problem with Textpattern.

When uploading images via the admin panel, the image gets uploaded fine but the ‘Owner’ of the image is a ‘group’ that is different than the FTP user whose account it is.

For instance, when I upload an image through the admin panel, the owner of the image is ‘apache’, but the FTP account itself is ‘user’.

I don’t know how I can force textpattern to use the local FTP account and not upload images that way.

Is there a way to do this?

Textpattern doesn’t use FTP to upload images. The files Textpattern, or we really should say PHP, creates will belong to the user that runs PHP. In your case PHP is most likely run as Apache’s module, and Apache is run as apache. So an uploaded file’s owner will be apache.

Short answer is no. You can’t force Textpattern to use any other user.
