Re: Movable Type Import 0.4

My host runs cpanel so has phpmyadmin, was seamless. Be great for future users to have that as an optional variable in the script. ;) But I’m set.

thank you again!

Re: Movable Type Import 0.4

Is there anyway of using this to just import a few entries? I’m almost ready to switch over to my TXP site, but I have about 6 recent entries (with all the comments, before anyone suggests doing it manually!) that I need to get over to the TXP site.

Or to put it another way – If I run the script again, will it create duplicate entries? I fear the possibility of manually deleting duplicate posts.

Re: Movable Type Import 0.4

Despite it’s faults, the MT export format is pretty editable. I would just jump to the end of the document, back up to the newest non-imported post, and delete to the top. (In vi this is pretty easy… depends a lot on your editor.

Re: Movable Type Import 0.4

OK – and once i have the .txt file updated with just those entries, how do I get that into TXP? Does Dean’s script do that as well the connect-to-database method? Or can I then just insert this into my textpattern table using phpMyAdmin?

Re: Movable Type Import 0.4

Jon, I don’t know the answer with the script linked in this thread, but with the script in this other thread I was able to run it repeatedly with no troubles. I had an 8 MB import file, and the script choked on it twice. Each time when I ran it again, it skipped the already imported entries/comments and picked up where it left off.

And though it may have been updated since, my early experience with the script in this thread was that it did not import comments.

Re: Movable Type Import 0.4

I just ran this script and though it looks like it impoorted everything nicely, I forgot that I’m using a table prefix, so I wrote over another set of tables (luckily it didn’t have anything I couldn’t lose in it).

I updated the script to pull out yor defined table “PFX

Re: Movable Type Import 0.4

I posted my update to the txp_mt_import before i even noticed that there were threee pages in this discussion and others had encountered this problem. Hope others have a use for the new script

My question is this – after i imported entries wirh v0.4 and v0.5 it adds the categories, but does not assign categories to the entres. Is this typical, or am I doing something wrong?

If this is not just my problem should I fix this?

Re: Movable Type Import 0.4

Did you run /textpattern/_update.php after the import? That usually cleans up the category issue.
