Re: rvm_latin1_to_utf8 (v0.5)

No, that charset is only used for new installs

I know I’ve been cheeky but could we have a plugin to go from utf8 too utf8mb4?

If you’re really brave, try it and let me know how it goes ;)

Re: rvm_latin1_to_utf8 (v0.5)

That was fast!!! Installed on a dev site, followed the instructions and all went just fine! I will back up our main sites and go ahead with the upgrade for them.

Is it safe to update all tables including adi_matrix & spf_js?

Yes, it should be safe to update all TXP related tables.

Re: rvm_latin1_to_utf8 (v0.5)

On our main site:

Updating Textpattern tables…

Succesfully completed.

The rvm_utf8_to_utf8mb4 plugin has been automatically de-installed.

There is a typo in Succesfully but the script worked as expected!

Yes, that’s the latest version. Either way should work. Make a backup first.

made convertation in txp 4.5.7 with older plugin (0.3 ver.)

diagnostic tool after convert:

Charset (default/config): latin1/utf8
character_set_client: utf8
character_set_connection: utf8
character_set_database: latin1
character_set_filesystem: binary
character_set_results: utf8
character_set_server: latin1
character_set_system: utf8
character_sets_dir: /usr/share/mysql/charsets/
18 Tables: OK

some rows are still latin1 – is this correct?

My database is reported as: MySQL: 10.1.31-MariaDB-cll-lve

Will the plugin work with this? Thanks,

Didn’t test it, but it’ll probably work. Do make a backup first.

I did test it, and it seemed to go well. It did its report and deleted itself. But nothing changed in the database.
