Re: [feedback] How To Win Friends Who Love Desktop Blogging...

Status and actual XML-RPC server download link (for 4.0.6)?

Reading the thread I am a little confused where to get the latest XML-RPC server version to test against TXP 4.0.6.

  • I am using the recommended Firefox add-on ScribeFire to post articles via XML-RPC. Development was pretty fast in the last months.
  • I was trying to get del.icio.us to work but without success (using asv_tumblelog now).

Re: [feedback] How To Win Friends Who Love Desktop Blogging...

Using the latest from svn – no matter which API type I use with MarsEdit I get the response:

Can’t do get recent posts for spotthehall because the server reported an error. XML-RPC Response Parsing Failed: The XML parser could not parse the data.

When trying Scribefire, I get the following for Textpattern, Moveable Type and Metaweblog settings:

The server returned a malformed response. Please check that your blog and API URLs are correct.

I had a little more success with the “Official” XML-RPC, but only text, no images.

You would’t really expect that you could excise the current development build of XML-RPC and drop that in 4.0.6 as a working component, would you? Please await the official release of TXP 4.0.7 where XML-RPC will be a supported part of the package.

Robert: OK, I will be patient :) I was only confused by your patch announcements which sounded like (to my stupid me) there is a patched version for 4.0.6 available (somewhere). Thanks for the clarification.

r2934 hopefully fixes the time zone issues. From my POV the XML-RPC server component has thus reached a feature-complete state for TXP 4.0.7.

As always, all field reports are welcome.

Good news wet, does this mean image upload via email is supported, as I’m sure it will be now within MarsEdit etc?

Re: [feedback] How To Win Friends Who Love Desktop Blogging...

Post/upload by email is not a XML-RPC technology so this won’t be part of our XML-RPC server in Txp 4.0.7. There are XML-RPC-based methods of media management, which also won’t be a part of 4.0.7. This leaves room for expansions in one of the next releases, if significant demand arises.

Hi all! Any idea when there’ll be support for custom fields and excerpts?
