Re: [Archived] stw_category_tree

Hi Santheo. I use your plugin all the time. Thanks.

How about removing the angled brackets in the title of this thread, it would save me (and presumably others) guessing which plugin is being referred to in RSS feeds and the forum mailer.

Cheers.

Re: [Archived] stw_category_tree

Hi Santheo.

Previously I was able to hack your plugin to work clean url categories with sgb_url_handler with the following code in later versions this hack won’t work. Any suggestions for a workaround?

Thanks again

Re: [Archived] stw_category_tree

mrdale-

Can you explain how you’d like the outputted links to be formatted? In my link generating function (stw_cat_link), I’m using TXP’s built-in URL creation function, so I’m pretty sure everything’s being generated properly, messy URLs or no. Can you show me an example of a category link formatted differently than tld.com/sec/?c=cat that will work? I tried using tld.com/sec/cat, and got an error.

Thanks,
-Sandy

Hi Santheo

You have to have a plugin that allows configuarable clean URLs like sgb_url_handler or Zem rewrite.

It would be real nice to have the option though.

Re: [Archived] stw_category_tree

The plugin’s been updated. It now supports clean category URLs as defined by the sgb_url_handler plugin if you have it installed. Right now, links must be in the format of section/category (as defined by default). If there’s a request for supporting other formats, let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

Re: [Archived] stw_category_tree

Sandor,

would it be possible to automatically attach the current section title to the category title:
current section: A
categories: 1,2,3,4
Would then output: A1, A2, A3, A4 etc…
Instead of hardcoding the category names related to a section…
This to avoid when switching articles from a section to another, from A to F for example, to rename all categories manually… In the example above from A1, A2… to… F1, F2 etc…
I tryed to edit your plugin and do this myself… Without sucess…
Does this makes sense to you ?
If yes can this trick be done by editing your plugin and pasting your $section variable somewhere so it would output a category list where each category would be in the form of: sectionTitle categoryTitle

Thanks !

Re: [Archived] stw_category_tree

Hi.

Is it possible to use this plugin to generate a list of categories that:

a) shows categories only ‘from’ the current section (like cbs_category_list does)?
b) shows a linked list of article titles as a nested list under each category?

Thanks!

for a) just use the section=“your_section” attribute or “*”
for b) try a category archive approach, similar to this date-based archive.

Re: [Archived] stw_category_tree

Thanks Mrdale.
I have the “*” att in place but it doesn’t seem to filter down my cats to the current section.
<txp:stw_category_tree localized="y" wraptag="ul" break="li" activeclass="active" section="*" />

Is stw_category_tree the way to go if I want to achieve the following nav structure in my sidebar, or is there a better way?
category
category
category
category

…and when you click a cat the first article in that cat displays and the sidebar menu shows a sub-list of article titles like this:
category
—-article
—-article
—-article
category
category
category

I’ll try that archive method and see if I can get it working, but if you’ve got any further pointers……

Cheers.
